La storia del marchio Versace è prima di tutto una storia di famiglia che inizia a Reggio Calabria negli anni '50 quando il piccolo Gianni giocava nella sartoria madre, dove imparava le basi del mestiere, perché se è vero che negli anni di maggior successo è stato chiamato con qualsiasi appellativo, si è sempre definito un sarto.

Nello stesso negozio è cresciuto il fratello maggiore Santo, il cui interesse per la moda sarà diretto all'aspetto manageriale, e la sorella minore Donatella che ha seguito le orme di Gianni e per il quale è stata musa e braccio destro.

Nel 1972 Gianni Versace decide di partire dalla Calabria per andare a Milano e lavorare come designer free lance dove crea per prima una collezione per un'azienda di abbigliamento chiamata "Florentine Flowers".

The history of the Versace brand is first of all a family story that begins in Reggio Calabria in the ‘50s when little Gianni played in his mother tailor shop, where he learned the basics of the trade, because if it is true that in the years of greatest success he was called with just about any appellative, he always called himself a tailor.
