Cantina Nepos Villae - Classic Valpolicella - Wine Carved in The Stone
A territory steeped in history and humanity, marked by small stone villages and silent districts, ancient fountains and marble wash-houses. Dorsals crossed by long dry stone walls, the marogna, carved between marl and rock, in support of vineyards, olive trees and cherry trees. Ancient Romanesque churches raise the bell towers beyond the gaze. They mark the territory and merge with towers and ruins of medieval castles. Campo di Villa represents the fusion between the Risorgimento's historical ideals of the founder Giovan Battista Quintarelli and the young, overwhelming passion for innovation of his great-grandson Francesco. Contemporaneity that can not transcend the history and tradition of these ancient walls. The historical Valpolicella that looks beyond its borders.
Production Zone
Valle di Negrar, classic Valpolicella.
Blend
Corvina gentile, Corvina large, Rondinella.
Harvest
Hand with positioning of the grapes in the box in the first week of October. A part of the grapes was subject to drying for a period of 4 months until the end of January.
Crushing
In February the grapes are removed from the drying boxes, the bunches are sorted and then passed to a soft pressing.
Fermentation
Vinification in steel at a controlled temperature and subsequent contact with the skins for about 40 days with fulling by hand.
Aging
After vinification in red, the wine is aged in large French oak barrels of Allier and Troncais for 24 months. Subsequently the wine is left to refine in the bottle about 8 months before being placed on the market.
Organoleptic Characteristics
Its ruby color has intense red reflections. A beautiful consistency and a partial impenetrability. The nose is definitely complex with a nice verticality of the aromas. It expresses all the elegance of a limestone and marly territory, fine and frank. Fruity with a pleasant sensation of black cherry drowned in chocolate.
A Boer emanating rich sensations of cocoa and black berries. Sweetly balsamic with nuances of kind tobacco and chestnut honey. On the palate it has a nice freshness and a clear sapidity. It opens with kindness and offers an enveloping and captivating round tannin. Fruit and black pepper with delicate sensations of cloves and cinnamon. Definitely long lasting almond finish.
