Ilian Rachov

The Master of Baroque

Ilian Rachov was born in Sofia and began his artistic career as a self-taught artist in 1988, making copies of orthodox icons and medieval frescoes, rediscovering and mastering ancient techniques by now forgotten.

Currently many of his works belong to public collections of the Vatican, Ethnographic Museum in Hamburg, Rila Monastery in Bulgaria, International Don Bosco Institute in Turin, ...

And to private collections in Rome, Palermo, Turin, London, Tokyo, New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, ...

He created for Gianni Versace S.p.a. six entire collections with baroque designs still used by Versace Home Collection.

He created for Gianni Versace S.p.a. six entire collections with baroque designs still in use by Versace Home Collection. Some of the scarves and dresses with prints created by him for Versace have been worn by important people like Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Elton John, ...

He also created three capsule collections with his own name sold entirely in Monte Carlo.

In 2005 he was contacted by the British Royal Mail to use some of his works for a limited edition of stamps.

Thanks to his personal style that combines the realism of classical painting with the richness of colors to contemporary art and design, he created numerous frescoes and murals in ancient buildings ( in Nizza Monferrato, Incisa, Villa Paradiso in Turin, ...), churches and private homes.

From 2016 he collaborates with various design and fashion companies such as Silvio Fiorello, Acqua Lustralis, Angelina Roma creating luxury capsule collections.

During his twenty years of artistic activity, Ilian participated in various competitions and exhibitions of painting and design including the Salone del Mobile, Villa Guallino, The Promoter of Fine Arts Turin, Villa Amoretti, Villa Brasini ( Rome ), Altaroma, Banca Sella, Banca Mediolanum, ...

He has won numerous awards including Fenomeno d'Oro, Emerging Artist, Italy Art, in Italy and abroad.

In 2015 he received the honorary title of Doctor of Art from the prestigious American Foundation The Philological although La Causa.

Among his clients are names like Donatella Versace, Penelope Cruz, Prince Albert II of Monaco, Gene Simmons, First Lady of Bulgaria, Asma Al Qasimi ( Sharjah Sheikh - United Arab Emirates ), Ruspoli Princes, Princess Rita Boncompagni Ludovisi, ...

He has participated in many charity events from various organizations such as Arts4Japan Foundation, Order of the Saints Contardo and Giuliano Foundation, CABS Foundation, ... , raising funds for those most in need.

He still collaborates with various international and Italian organizations in order to collect funds against  environment' issues and poverty.

He was awarded the Golden Phenomenon Award in Bulgaria for the beneficial effects of his art on the psyche and health of people.

It has been awarded by the Excellence Magazine as European excellence in the fields of art and fashion.
