3 Phases System

Packed with high-quality skin care ingredients, California Tan® formulas are scientifically tested and available in a 3-step system. On each bottle the number indicating which step belongs to is shown.

Step 1: Activate

California Tan® Step 1 is a system created to optimize the continuous development of melanin ensuring excellent results and is designed specifically for those who have a minimum or no tanning base.

Step 2: Tanning

California Tan® Step 2 offers your skin a combination of two technologies: CuO2 ™ and TRF ™. These technologies are rich in copper and oxygen peptides, favoring the accumulation of oxygen itself, while the melanin produced oxidizes, guaranteeing a perfect color. Those who already have a good tanning bed can use Stage 2 directly by skipping Stage 1.

Step 3: Prolong

California Tan ® Step 3 is specifically designed to prolong the life of your tan. Give your skin an intense hydration thanks to specific ingredients like CT-Protect ™ and Vitatan®, to infuse to your color the nutrients that prolong, enhance and complete your look.

Tanning Technology - California Tan®

In each California Tan anti-aging cosmetic sunscreen, there are one or more tanning agents that characterize the cosmetic itself. It starts with the simple activators (called Intensifier) ​​that can have a different tanning power; the next step adds to the sun cosmetics an ingredient that gives a dark color through Bronzer. There are bronzes that have immediate effect, naturally derived, others with a delayed effect, because they occur after 2-4 hours, called self-tanners. All these sun care cosmetics have been designed to optimize the best natural tanning of the skin.

Anti-Age Sun Cosmetics (Intensifiers)

The sun cosmetics have specific characteristics and ingredients known to increase the skin's ability to preserve hydration and thus extend the results of tanning. They optimize the skin's tanning potential by triggering the production of melanin. They contain formulas with a variety of blends and technologies, such as tyrosine and other natural tanning stimulators, which function as natural activators.

Natural Bronzers

This technology uses natural extracts to give an immediate color to the skin that lasts for one or two days. Examples of Natural Bronzer are walnut oil, walnut shell extract, caramel, Alcanna, carrot oil, black tea extract or banana. These natural extracts are considered instant Bronzers because they add an extra color to the skin.

Bronzers Delayed Effect

These bronzers are designed to increase tanning using ingredients such as DHA (dihydroxyacetone) which is a carbohydrate derived from natural plant sources such as brown sugar and sugar beets.

There is a delayed effect because the ingredients interact with the amino acids (proteins) present on the outer layer of the skin and cause it to be darker within the next 2-4 hours. As a consequence of the natural exfoliation of the skin, the tanning effect of DHA is lost in 4-6 days. In addition to DHA we also use Eritrulose in our Brinzers, which guarantees a more bronze color and has a similar duration and duration of DHA.

Hot Action - Tingle

Some of our cosmetics contain an ingredient called "Tingle" (from English "tingle") whose INCI name is Nicotinato di Benzile. This ingredient stimulates and increases the microcirculation of the skin for a deeper and more intense tan thanks to the better concentration of oxygen in the skin.

Frequent use leads over time to using cosmetics with a greater quantity of tingles. Not suitable for sensitive skin. Never use on the face and under the sun. Always test on a small area before application.

Tan Extenders - After Sun - Body Lotion

Body Lotion - Tan Extender is a vitamin-rich moisturizer that increases and lengthens the results of tanning. Essential vitamins and powerful botanical active ingredients defend and prolong tanning. Daily use guarantees optimal skin care.

It is recommended after a shower or bath and after a tanning session.
