Comiso Stone

"The stone of Comiso is a pale golden yellow color in the sun acquires an indescribable opulence tender enough to allow a paper cut, you can also leave almost naked, in order to give free rein to the manifold language of matter".

The formation dates from Upper Oligocene (37 million to 38 million years ago). It is located in the hills overlooking the city of Comiso, appearing in several layers of varying quality, from the porous structure to the more compact. The extraction is done in quarries to 'open'.

The Crow's Nest - The Sicilian Coffa

Between the lines of Sicilian stories and writers to pen inks, the crow's nest is intertwined with the curina (ie the tender part, but very strong, of the dwarf Sicilian palm leaves) and the novels of Camilleri, Verga and if we also our Gesualdo Bufalino. There have been stories of Inspector Montalbano intertwined with the skillful hands of ink Camilleri and dwarf palm leaves to get to do an outstanding Sicilian brand.

If we consider that the crow's nest comes into our homes with elegance and style to match the classy woman, you think of dear Gesualdo Bufalino reminding  "After much talking it remains doubtful whether women prefer to be taken, including Surprised or e."

The crow's nest in history began as a simple basket used to subsidize the horses or transportation of household goods (if placed riding on the back of a mule), still during the holidays can still be seen on the Sicilian carts paraded in village festivals. From simple object rural daily use, the crow's nest has slowly changed use and expertly decorated, has turned into the bag; decorate it in a very artistic way with the use of mirrors, ribbons, typical images, doilies, mini tambourines, miniature fruit, creating truly unique pieces appreciated all over the world.

So the Sicilian crow's nest, today, has crossed the boundaries of the island and has become a required accessory ladies that feature from morning to night, on the beach, but not limited to, it becomes a vehicle for dissemination of a Sicilian symbol that smells tradition. And to remember the Sicilian holiday, the same Andrea Camilleri said  "What do you miss in Sicily?" "U scrusciu du seas."

Artisian Creatively
