Retro Gaming

The My Arcade range consists of staggeringly authentic table-top arcade machines and portable devices, allowing gamers to play the classics they love in the way they remember. With real, working arcade sticks and action buttons, long lasting battery operation and authentic arcade marque artwork, the range is a must for any and all arcade and gadget fans.

The Micro Player arcades feature artwork inspired by the original cabinets, large full-colored screens, backlit coin traps, plus a removable joystick for those who prefer to use a directional pad to play.

The boxes each machine comes in look gorgeous. The front and sides have transparent plastic, which allows you to see the tiny arcade cabinets. On the right-hand side, you can read about the game’s history. The back of the box tells you about the cabinet’s features. The left-hand side has a larger window; giving you a better look at the machine. Adorning each box are pictures featured on the original arcade units. It’s understandable if you wish to keep the tiny arcade machine in its box since the whole thing looks so slick. However, the real fun happens once you take the machine for a spin.

The arcade cabinets are 6 inches tall and have a 2-inch screen.

Despite the size, the graphics really pop on the devices. The screen comes covered with an overlay of the game. You need to peel this off to play. The machines have reset and start buttons on the dashboard, along with two bigger buttons for playing the game. If you wish, you can remove the small joystick and play using the d-pad.

To power the cabinet, you need four AA alkaline batteries which go into the back of the unit. You can also power the device via a mini USB cable connection just below where you insert the batteries.

Directly below the joystick and buttons is the device’s power button. Simply pressing it turns the machine on or off. The fun part is that this is the area where one would insert coins into the arcade machine. The two coin slots light up when the device is on, it gives it that authentic arcade feel.

The game sounds come out of a small speaker right above where the batteries go. Right above that is a headphone jack. This is a good option for those who want privacy and who desire better sound quality. There are volume buttons on either side of the headphone jack.

Despite the tininess of the controls, they are surprisingly easy to play with. Thanks to the two rubber pads on the bottom of the unit, the machine stays in place while you play.

The arcade machines are fairly lightweight and can be easily carried.

The Micro Player arcades are officially licensed from BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc., including PAC-MAN, GALAGA and DIG DUG, enduring classics that are sure to appeal to gamers of all ages.
