Winery in The Tuscan Maremma
Company
The company is located in the offshoots of the Maremma, on the border with the Siena province, in the area of the DOC Montecucco, between the DOCG Brunello of Montalcino and the DOCG Morellino of Scansano and it is granted with the privilege of ideal conditions for the growth and maturation of the Sangiovese. The farm lays on the top of a natural amphitheater facing south-west, 350m above sea level. The farm owns 52 hectares, of which 25 hectares are dedicated to vineyards, 2 hectares host olive trees, while a wood of live oaks and cork oaks occupies the remaining 25 hectares.
On the top of the hill, dominating and enjoying a breathtaking sight, there are the wine cellar, which is a modern structure with the traditional wings-shape leant over the vineyards hills and the historical homestead-barn compound, today used as elegant farm-holidays and restaurant.Inside the wine cellar, next to the technical premises, there is a modern wine tasting centre and the wine shop.
Philosophy
Since the Medieval time, on the roads that from Maremma lead towards the inland, the “Imposti” represented a place where wayfarer and dealers could take a break and get refreshments and could change the cattle or get a hot meal and a glass of wine. At the beginning of 2000, one of these old homesteads, that in the centuries had become a bare pasture, stole the heart of two Lombard friends, thanks to its hillocks facing south and the unspoiled nature of the surroundings.
In the belief that the land and climate of the high Maremma represented a high valued union, the 5 years conversion of the old pastures and arable lands into neat vineyards begun, along with the project to entrap in a bottle all the character of this strong and generous land, warm and sometimes rough, that give itself slowly to those who have the patience to stop and listen to its silence. Our philosophy aims to keep a strong and essential bond between the Tuscan land, its people and the rural tradition.
Our wines are dedicated to those people…
The Farmhouse
The winery includes an agriturism farm holiday, a result of a careful restoration of the ancient farmhouse.
It is composed by 2 buildings: La Locanda (“inn”), obtained from the old barn, and 8 rooms.
Our farmhouse is stylishly furnished and managed with special attention to reception and proposal of local dishes.
Antico Casale Impostino is located in an ideal position covering 25 hectares of vineyards and 25 hectares of bushes alongside a nice private pond.
On the external area there is a parking and marvellous garden with a wide variety of plants and flowers.
Two big crackling braziers will keep you company, while you relax enjoying yourself surrounded by total darkness under a starry sky.
Our superb panoramic swimming pool stands out in this magnificent natural amphitheatre of unrivalled beauty.
Our green olive trees and vineyards will be a pleasure for your eyes as you take breaks between laps in the swimming pool cuddled by natural colours and sounds.
The Cellar
Modern and technological structure, it reminds the tradition, with its classical wing-shape that embraces the vineyard hills. Production takes place at the ground floor in order to facilitate the grape movement, while the refinement and storage are entirely carried out in the basement to take advantage of the natural soil thermoregulation.
The wine-making process occurs in stainless steel tanks thermoregulated and in truncated-cone shape oak vats; for refinement Barriques and Tonneau of French oak are used.
The Vineyards
Reclining on the side of the hill, with the surrounded by the woods. On the homestead’s property the ground is homogeneous and it is mostly made of sodium clay interspersed with rough calcareous deposit. The slope and the soil composition guarantee a great drainage, granting to the plants the ideal growth conditions, conferring flavor and concentration to the final product.
The climate of Maremma with the strong and clear sun and the position on the hill, assuring strong thermal excursions even in the warmest periods, along with the good influence of the sea breezes, provide the ideal conditions for the perfect maturation of the grapes.

The Vineyards Names
The Grapes
In the homestead, the following vines are cultivated:
Sangiovese: indefeasible, it determines the bond with the history and tradition of the land and it strongly represents it. Its character is generous and strong, sharp when it is young, but able to evolve into fabulous amplitude.
Merlot: it is considered the primary complement , for its characteristics of harmony and aromatic elegance, that allows to obtain wines with more modern and international characters.
Syrah: this choice is due to the research of an aromatic elegant peculiarity and to the enhancement of softness and spontaneity of the taste. It showed the great feature to adapt to the High Maremma’s climate, becoming an essential support in characterizing our wines.
Petit Verdot: great complement, thanks to its elegance and to the contemporary vegetal and phenolic maturation, that guarantees softness and color richness.
Vermentino: a specific choice for our white wine, because of its adaptation to our climate, dry and with strong insolation. Gives strong and fresh wines, with intersting aromatic matters.

Tenuta l'Impostino - Location Impostino, Fraz. Casal Di Pari, Civitella Marittima, Civitella Paganico (GR), 58045, Italy
Of a fresh and lively ruby colour and of intense and fresh aromas of owers and fresh and pulpy fruits, among which are recognisable the viola, the cherry and the blackberry. It is a structured and well balanced wine, with a slender body, distinguishable for a peculiar pleasant taste, supported by a likely softness, and well balanced by fresh sensations...
Of a bright red, it immediately shows it's fresh character, with an intense and winey perfume, characterised by luscious fruity notes, in which we recognise the plum and cherry, partnering with a soft geranium ower. Rich and intense at the contact with palate, with a well structured tannin balanced with its pleasing softness and its youthful freshness.
Of a deep and dense ruby colour, it impresses for the intensity of the fragrance, clean, rich of avours with dominant notes of red pulp such as well matured cherry and blackberry and with a hint of jam. Following it vegetal notes appear of hay, warm spices and a tip of wood to extend its bouquet. It is warm, soft, full-bodied to taste, with a remarkable...
Intense and consistent ruby red color. The fragrance is intense, with notes of fresh fruits, currant, blackberry and raspberry well integrated with a spicy and of aromatic wood background, with a hint of balsamic resin. To taste it shows itsfreshness and its character of a great aging wine, with an evident but already well integrated tannin, well balanced...
Of a impenetrable and dense ruby colour and an intense and wide flavour, in which the fragrance of mature fruits is dominant, starting with the blackberry, the cherry and the blackcurrant, followed by notes of tobacco and hints of sweet spices, vanilla and cinnamon and with an almost balsamic final. It presents itself strong and well structured to taste,...
It's of a bright straw colour, with fresh green hues, and it has an intense varietal aroma in which are recognisable oral and fruity sweet notes of yellow peach and melon, with a touch of peppermint. At the taste it is fresh and lively, dry and full-bodied, and it later opens to bring all the aroma intensity that the smell has already anticipated.
