Make-Up that Made History

History

MAC - Make-Up Art Cosmetics - was born in Toronto in Canada. The Make-up artist and photographer Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo, owner of a beauty salon, were looking for a make-up that looked good in photography and not finding it they decided to create their own.

Following the growth of the credits in the magazines and the popularity due to the word of mouth, the couple decided to launch M · A · C in March 1984 in a corner of a department store in Toronto.

Their approach was practical but chic, the products were packaged in black containers and unlike most of the existing make-up brands, which were mainly skincare companies, M · A · C chose to assert itself only as a color authority.

The corner was manned exclusively by professional make-up artists, a novelty for the time.

The brand brought about a revolution in the market, offering a wide range of products that combined professionalism with a glamorous style.

The company constantly focused on the integrity of the carefully formulated products but which also contained a touch of exuberance.

Joined the Estée Lauder Companies group in 1994, M · A · C is now distributed in more than 90 countries worldwide.

And it has always been committed to the development of new categories, new products and over 50 collections every year, to meet the needs of both consumers and professional make-up artists.

A professional make-up brand that creates the backstage trends of the fashion weeks around the world.

Today, M · A · C represents so many things for millions of fans in every corner of the world, but such a phenomenon must have started somewhere.

In fact, the company is a proud community of professional make-up artists who work together to express and give life to the vision of the company.
