Ixion – Our Story

IXION is handmade, designed and developed in Norway. All our units are individually listened to and fine-tuned by our sound experts. In that way we ensure that our smart audio systems live up to the highest standards.

Who We Are

T-Radio is a company, developing smart audio systems – designed and built in Norway. Using advanced technologies, we proudly manufacture audio solutions which are intuitive, easy to use and will provide the best sound experiences possible. Our mission is to ensure that you can listen to whatever you want, whenever you want – without any hassle at all. Simply plug it in and you’re ready to play.

Our Origin

The IXION brand was founded in 2009 by Tom Austad. Throughout his life, Tom has been a driving force in evolving and pushing the limits of the possible in technology, sound and electronics across the globe, always true to his Norwegian heritage. Thus innovation and high standards are part of his DNA. Tom’s vision is crystal clear and ambitious – to work harder than anyone else to create a visually appealing, easy to use, smart audio system with excellent sound qualities. 

To fulfil this vision, Tom has joined forces with former Tandberg Radio engineers, one of the world’s most influential designers, software developers and specialists to assemble an unstoppable team of knowledge, skills and dedication.

Our Legacy

Born, built and designed in Norway, with roots hailing from the legendary Tandberg Radio founded in 1938. Our proud history and knowledge from developing some of the most renowned sound systems in Norwegian history have shaped us into who we are today. Even though our heritage is strong, we are always looking forwards. Hard work, honest craftsmanship, innovation, impeccable sound qualities and elegant design are essential to us. True to our legacy and Tandberg Radio philosophy we keep our assembly line close to our origin. Designed, developed, produced and crafted in our own facilities in Norway. In fact, all of our units have been tuned in, listened to and sound approved by our experts before even leaving the Ixion premises. We call it Norwegian fidelity.

Designed by acclaimed Koenigsegg designer Bård Eker, tuned by experts with the finest ears.

These audio systems are designed to function with perfection. Daring to be different by always aiming for simplicity and intuitive user experiences, without ever compromising on sound quality. What we do is build, design and produce audio systems which look so good that you’ll yearn to hear it play. You can easily extend your audio system throughout your home simply by plugging additional speakers into the power sockets, achieving the ultimate listening experience anywhere at home.

We’re based on intricate, technological solutions. 5 years of developing a system which is advanced inside, but easy to operate. To us being smart is being beautiful, and we love it when things simply work. To be honest, we’re a bit scared of telling you all the details, as they may seem overwhelming. The most important part is this – tune in to your favorite radio shows, listen to e-books, podcasts, stream music or play from your preferred device. Take control without user friendly touch screen interface or control the Ixion from your phone, tablet and enjoy the listening experience. We’re set up and ready to go.

Built to Blast

The IXION audio systems are constructed and designed to give the best possible output. The acoustic cabinet is separated from the electronic housing, a large aluminium top and bottom minimizes disturbing resonance and 4 amplifiers gives pure, powerful sound. Of course you can also update apps and add new features just by the touch of your fingertips.

Our passion for high quality is reflected in our warranty and customer service. A 5 year warranty assures you the best possible help if you should encounter any problems. Our support team are always ready to share their knowledge and top notch advice in case you ever need it.
