A Centuries-Old History
The Family's History
Maison Pierre Gimonnet, is family-run and co-managed by Olivier and Didier Gimonnet, two of the four children of Michel Gimonnet and Françoise Gimonnet Larmandier.
Still dominated by a peasant soul and convinced that owning a vineyard of property is the prerequisite for mastering the development of wines, the family knows precisely all their plots, if not all the vines, their ability to produce this and that typicality.
The Terroir, The Secret of Success
The perfect knowledge of the multiple plots of vines, the know-how handed down from previous generations, the concern for perfection and the constant questioning of climate change have been the secret of the consistency of the House's wines for decades.
Of course, the profession has evolved for 30 years, having to respond to changes in society.
From the first hectares located exclusively in Cuis until 1950, to those currently owned, all the vineyard plots have been selected and acquired slopes classified as 1st and Grand Cru of the Côte des Blancs.
These vineyards guarantee 100 % of the company's supply.
This is where the Pierre Gimonnet & Fils house took root more than two centuries ago. And it is always here that he tries to develop his quality secret.
Because for the company, the terroir, a true masterpiece of Nature, has a strong identity and represents the soul of its Champagnes ... its style.
The “Assemblage”, Where Quality is Born
The vinification is based on traditional methods, with the grapes being harvested manually and left to ferment in small vats.
Malolactic fermentation follows, after which a single and light filtration is carried out before the tirage, while disgorgement takes place only three months before the product is shipped.
Finally, the topping up is light and delicate, so as not to mask the natural, elegant and fresh style of Chardonnay.
