The seeds of the plant are planted in spring and produce a yellow flower in June. The fruit that develops is a pod that contains the seeds, which are harvested in late summer.

Grinding the seeds you get the mustard flour then with an appropriate treatment based on vinegar and wine takes on a characteristic pungent odor and a very strong aromatic flavor.
