Fresh Goji

Goji berries are considered one of the most nutritious natural foods, incredibly rich in antioxidants.

Fresh Goji Berries

Fresh Goji Capo Berries are 100% Italian and natural and come exclusively from our crops at the bottom of the Colli Euganei (Azienda Agricola Capodaglio). Here we chose to promote sustainable agriculture (agronomic system Organic Forest®) by excluding the use of synthetic chemicals to ensure the highest organoleptic value and energy of the fruit.

Fresh berries are:

- selected and controlled from the beginning;
- exclusively hand-picked in the period from June to October;
- freshly distributed in fully biodegradable packaging in respect of the ecosystem;
- ready to use, from the plant to the table in 24 hours.

Goji Capo chose to cultivate these extraordinary fruits. They are potent supplements considered one of the most nutritious and natural food, rich in beneficial properties for our body. They exclusively distribute the product FRESH, to ensure the integrity and the highest organoleptic and energy values. Likewise, the preserve and the pure goji juice come only from fresh fruits, collected and entrusted to a processing of excellence (130g. of fresh berries for 100g of extra goji jam and 150g. of fresh berries for 100g. of pure juice).

Today the general offer of goji berries in the Italian and European supermarkets is in its dehydrated form and comes mainly from the Chinese market. This responds to the incapability of distributing a fresh product due to the distance and the length and costs of the transportation.

Features, Properties and Benefits of Fresh Goji Berries

The Goji Lycium Barbarum fruit has been included by the Italian Ministry of Health in the official list of plant extracts usable as "antioxidant" supplement (Legislative Decree 21 May 2004, n. 169). Moreover, the European Commission for the supervision on food safety has defined as safe the consumption of the Lycium Barbarum berries as a food ingredient.

Goji Lycium Barbarum fruit is a powerful natural supplement whose main properties, such as the antioxidant action and the strengthening of the immune system, made of it the "super-fruit of longevity and youth". This is due to its incredible concentration of beneficial substances and its many positive effects on our health such as the ability to:

- fight ageing and the action of free radicals;
- prevent diseases and strengthen the hair;
- fight cholesterol;
- stimulate the immune system and metabolism;
- help sleep and memory;
- regulate blood sugar and pressure (it is among the foods with the lowest glycemic index in the world. It contributes to keeping your blood sugar under control thanks to polysaccharides that provide energy to the body and stabilise the level of glucose in the blood over the long term.);
- protect the body from allergies and hypertension;
- improve muscle strength;
- naturally energise.

The antioxidant power of the Goji berry reaches incredible peaks using the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) measurement value. This scale measures the CAPACITY OF CONSUMPTION OF OXYGEN RADICALS, indicating the highest antioxidant power of the food according to the highest ORAC score achieved. The antioxidant capacity given to goji berries has a value of 25.000/30.000 (the pomegranate reaches a value of 11.000; 3.750 for the blueberry; 13.200 for dark chocolate; 7.700 for the black raspberry and 1.475 for oranges).

The analyses carried out on the product have revealed the potential of its shoots - rich in magnesium and potassium - and of the Goji Lycium Barbarum leaves. These have many nutritional properties which are essential and good for our health. They are rich in flavonoids, especially rutin, which acts as an antioxidant, strengthening the capillary walls, also contrasting oedema and decreasing the risk of heart disease. Furthermore, they have antihistamine properties, contain iron, phosphorus, calcium, beta-carotene, vitamin B12, vitamin C and much more. Goji shoots and leaves have become precious ingredients in the kitchen and can be eaten either raw (salads, smoothies, etc...) or cooked.

The Source of The Benefits of Goji Berries Contains

Why Have We Only Been Lately Talking About Goji Berries in Europe?

Until 2012, the controls done on Chinese foods showed a content of harmful substances and residues of pesticides at such an alarming levels, to forbid in Europe the import of various fruits and among those, goji berries. Only recently the import of the dried product has been allowed. These super fruits defined "berries of happiness and longevity", traditionally belong to the Asian medicine and are classified as amazing concentrated of nutrients, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and much more. Today they are widespread in Europe as valuable resources for our health and our well-being. They are grown directly on our soil to ensure the highest organoleptic and energy value.

Villa Capodoglio ...More than Two Centuries of Genuine Passion for the Land and its Good Fruits …

The Azienda Agricola Capodaglio tells a story of over two centuries of authentic passion for the land and its good fruits, experienced by working every day to promote a sustainable agriculture capable of respecting the natural characteristics of plants and to ensure high energetic and organoleptic value to crops. The ancient Villa (Villa Capodaglio) built in the XVI century, is now the headquarters of the company. The building used to be a private residence and lately a monastery, built on the ruins of the Castle of the Carraras, surrounded by Cabernet, Merlot, Refosco, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Palava and Glera vineyards.

Two years ago the agricultural and winemaking tradition of our company met the taste for innovation. To the vineyard, we added the completely natural and sustainable plant cultivation of Goji Lycium Barbarum, adopting an agronomic method (Organic Forest®) that promotes and respects the natural ecosystems, the genetic biodiversity and the biological cycles within the agricultural systems.

Our products are transformed by the master Gianni de Cecchi (Del Santo Alimenti) who looked after the food preparation for the astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti on her last space mission. His techniques allow, in fact, the maintenance of all the nutritional and organoleptic properties of foods. The first sustainable entirely italian crop of fresh goji. Over 60.000 plants of Goji Lycium Barbarum and 35 hectares for its plantation. The biggest in Europe.

A tiny fruit, a world of benefits, a shared passion that runs through Italy, the plain of sybaris to the euganean hills.

Oh Sole e Goji Capo are the Italian brands that directly sell fresh Goji Lycium Barbarum berries, exclusively grown in Italy, initially selected and harvested by hand. The product is 100% natural, thanks to the unanimous choice to support a sustainable agriculture capable of respecting the natural characteristics of the plants. The product ensures the highest organoleptic value and energy of the goji superfruit in its precious variety of the Goji Lycium Barbarum, naturally prepared and perfectly acclimatised on the Mediterranean soil.

The idea of cultivating in Italy the fruit of the goji plant was born in 2013 from Nicola Rizzo and his son Nicolò, owners of the Azienda Agricola Favella in Corigliano Calabro (CS). The farm was already Italian excellence in the horticultural crops of mushrooms and the breeding of buffalas. Hereafter they established themselves as the first company in Europe to cultivate and distribute with their Oh Sole brand, fresh Goji Lycium Barbarum berries.

They shared their consolidated know-how, a fine selection of plants and seeds and the passion for this extraordinary fruit with their friends from the Azienda Agricola Capodaglio (PD) and their brand Goji Capo, thus promoting the growth of a common excellence project (more than 60.000 plants and 35 hectares of land). By doing this, they granted a fully sustainable production of Goji Lycium Barbarum plants and fruits, as well as many natural products obtained from the processing of the fresh berries.

Sustainability - Organic Forest®

Face the challenges of the future in agriculture, in the respect of our land and its good fruits.

We are working on sustainable and natural agriculture which is worth more than the system and the traditional organic methods. This process will allow us to give back to all our products the natural characteristics of the plants from which they originated, ensuring the highest energetic and organoleptic value without the use of synthetic chemicals.

With the Organic Forest® method, we promote and respect natural ecosystems, genetic biodiversity and biological cycles within the agricultural systems. We do this preserving micro-organisms and observing the flora and fauna biological rhythms. Moreover, we maintain and improve soil fertility taking care of the impact of agricultural practices on the entire ecosystem.

Thanks to the knowledge of the soil microbiology and of the biology of plants, we used all the essential information at the base of natural laws to restore the balance and consistency between the rhizosphere and the philosphere. Organic Forest® promotes knowledge, awareness and disclosure of scientific bases with methodical foundation avoiding esotericism and occultism.

The Organic Forest® method is based on the agronomic bioelectronics applied to the soil, starting from molecular biology. The chemist Lothar Meyer studied the organisation of the elements according to their atomic volume. Thanks to nuclear physics he illustrated the root causes of plant diseases.

Organic 100 %

Fotovoltaic

In 2010 the company built two photovoltaic plants for the production of clean energy.

The Little Clover

Among the rows of goji plants flow long grassy fields of dwarf clover (Trifolium repens, which belongs to the legume family), chosen for its extraordinary characteristics.

The ability to fix nitrogen in the air without using any chemical to benefit the soil.

The natural efficiency in counteracting the growth of undesirable plants and parasitic invasion.

The ability of clover flowers to attract bees, essential for pollinating the flowers of goji plants and leading to the birth of red goji fruits.

The Bees

Sustainable agriculture can only promote the presence of bees on their soils, precious natural pollinators of flowers that help promote the spread of plant species and biodiversity in environments free of pollution and free of pesticides and insecticides.

The use of harmful chemicals in agricultural areas, where the bees perform their precious work, has led to an inexorable and alarming decrease in their presence, with serious impact on the whole ecosystem. In fact, the fundamental work of the small biodiversity queens is such that one third of the food we eat depends on pollination!

In compliance with the natural laws and the equilibrium of the ecosystem, Goji Capo has favored the presence of precious bees on their soils, with the positioning of special beehives and the experimentation of a product of excellence: pure goji honey, obtained from the transformation of the nectar of the flowers of this amazing plant.

Packaging - 100% Biodegradable and Compostable

The material of the 70g pack of fresh Goji Capo goji is composed of 100% pure biodegradable and compostable vegetable fiber (after consumption the packaging can be thrown in wet waste).

Also the transparent window of the package is 100% biodegradable and compostable, as it is composed of poly-acidic acid, a polymer derived from the corn plant.
