Frantoio Muraglia Story
Frantoio Muraglia was born in Andria, capital of the Apulia oil region, five generations ago, but our real family patriarch has watched the seasons come and go for no fewer than 450 years – a majestic coratina olive-tree, a native cultivar whose wealth of polyphenols is almost unmatched among the 538 classified Italian varieties. Our history as oil producers begins with this green giant that stands tall over our olive groves – some 40 hectares in the uplands of Murgia. It was Savino Muraglia senior who bought this tree to press its olives for oil, defying all those who told him there was no fortune to be made from land and olives. As to who had the right of it, only time will tell!

Medium Fruity - Italian Olive Oil
“Essenza” Medium Fruity is our extra virgin olive oil exclusively made from Peranzana variety olives grown in Apulia.
With our “Essenza” line, here at Frantoio Muraglia we are going back to the essential that has always been at the heart of our work: oil. Essence means oil of the highest quality in pret-à-gourmet clothing; extra virgin oil which is elegant but democratic in its appeal.
“Essenza” Intense Fruity is an extra virgin olive oil produced using only Peranzana olives. A sensory experience in refined attire.
The Peranzana cultivar gives an elegant oil boasting very low acidity and a very well-balanced taste. Our Medium Fruity oil is golden yellow in colour, shot through with gleams of bright green, and its aroma is dominated by fresh almond and green tomato with a well-structured taste playing predominantly on soft tones.
Medium Fruity Monocultivar Peranzana Olive
Olive oil is the brand identity of a particular region. The Peranzana cultivar gives rise to AN ELEGANT OIL THAT GOES PERFECTLY WITH DELICATE DISHES; it boasts very low acidity and a very well-balanced taste, suitable for fish and lightly-cooked dishes.
Golden yellow shot through with gleams of bright green. Its scent is dominated by the varietal characteristics of the Peranzana olive: full and fragrant, it has rich and vivid scents of tomato, rocket, radish and bright notes of artichoke. In the mouth it fully confirms its olfactory promise, with fresh and vivid notes without any excess of bitter or spicy tones.

I was born in Andria, so you could say I know a thing or two about it and I think I can tell the difference between a good olive oil and an excellent one. Peranzana produces A FINE OLIVE OIL AND BEST COMBINES WITH DELICATE DISHES, has a very low acidity and a very balanced taste which would best suit fish dishes and shouldn’t be cooked for long. In my case, I find it essential on seafoodwith cherry tomatoes, because it has a medium structure which doesn’t overpower fish and seafood dishes. This is an oil I couldn’t do without, because in the MURAGLIA JAR, WHICH IS INDISPUTABLY BEAUTIFUL, I CAN FEEL MORE, ITS SOUL.”
