For Loro Piana, cashmere has always been a symbol of uncompromising research and quality. A fiber whose origins evoke stories from distant lands, along with an unmistakable softness and absolute comfort.

Cashmere is a rare and precious fiber obtained exclusively from the fleece of Capra Hircus goats, a native species of the mountainous regions of Asia, particularly Mongolia and Inner Mongolia. These naturally hostile territories are characterized by sparsely populated deserts, limited food and water resources, scorching summers and freezing winters. To survive, this species develops a coat made of extremely fine fibers under the outer and rougher fleece that trap air, thus creating a highly effective protection against the cold and maintaining a constant body temperature, the source of cashmere. The shepherds, in full respect of the local ecosystem and in perfect harmony with the natural cycles, collect the fiber between March and May, when the weather conditions are milder and the animals tend to naturally lose the soft and warm cashmere fleece that has protected them during the coldest months. Thanks to its unique characteristics, cashmere is considered one of the most valuable fibers in the world, characterized by extraordinary thermoregulatory properties.
