Nicolao Atelier is an artisan company that has been producing historical costumes and dresses since 1980, with a focus on the history of Venetian costume, and is active on the international scene of cinema-theater and opera performances.

It has a repertoire of over 15,000 cine-theatrical costumes made with fabrics and fine workmanship for major film and opera productions, complete with accessories.

Nicolao Atelier has worked for the most important opera, theater and film productions all over the world: from the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Washington, to the New National thetre of Tokyo, passing through Bilbao, Lisbon, Nice, Lausanne, La Fenice, La Scala and the major Italian and European theaters.

Costume in Lampasso Gold-White decorated with white pearl trimmings and gold base tableau, doubled in tulle, embroidered with stones and white paiettes, faithful to the dress worn by women in 1700. A dress with vaporous and wide line from the waist down, which expresses a sense of accentuated femininity. The dress is composed of a close-fitting bodice with a square neckline; the sleeves end at the elbows with a cascade of lace, at the hips a frame that imposes a large horizontal development to the skirt (panier). Sumptuousness of ornaments composed of collarettes and ribbons that form showy gale.

Lampasso is a sumptuous and precious fabric, whose grandiose designs and weaves in gold and silver would make one think of Baroque art. Lampasso actually experienced its greatest success in the sixteenth century, but its origins date back to an even earlier era, the tenth century.

Its complex structure requires two warp systems, one background and one binding, and at least two sets of wefts. These structures create a three-dimensional effect in the designs and lend themselves very well to incorporating decorative metallic threads, in gold or silver, to embellish the fabric.
