They Will Ignore You, Until They Can’t
Palm Angels is a street fashion brand, the so-called streetwear that began to rage in the United States at the end of the 80s, and then became appreciated throughout Europe. In fact, Palm Angels is a bit of a forerunner of streetwear in Italy, because it succeeded in that difficult task of bridging the gap between street fashion and luxury fashion houses, merging the two concepts and creating something unique.
It must be said that the road has been long and winding, but that from its first steps the brand seemed destined to break through.
The Story of Palm Angels
Francesco Ragazzi: The Designer and Founder of The Brand
The face of this brand is an Italian, Francesco Ragazzi. Ragazzi studied at the IED in Milan and, at just 21 years old, took an internship at Moncler, which at that time had just passed into the hands of the new creative director Remo Ruffini. This outstanding training immediately made it clear that success is never the result of luck alone, but is achieved after study and commitment and after having tasted and touched with your own hands the experience of the greats who came before us.
In fact, it was precisely the experience at Moncler that in 2014, led Francesco Ragazzi, now art director of the French brand, to publish a photo book in which the salient moments of some of the most influential skater communities were captured. Thanks to the intensity of the shots and the introduction to the book written by Pharrel Williams (yes, him!), the volume received great approval, so much so that the following year it was transformed into a ready-to-wear collection.
Francesco Ragazzi - The First Palm Angels Collection
This is the very first collection of the Palm Angels brand; it's 2015 and Francesco Ragazzi presents a collection of unisex t-shirts, sweatshirts and tracksuits, first in Milan and then in Paris, in the famous Colette store. The prints of flames, marijuana leaves and bright colours manage to convince in a short time not only consumers, but also journalists, who devote themselves to an intense advertising of the brand that in a short time also reaches the interest of influencers.
Ragazzi himself, in fact, admits without reservations that the web has also helped the spread of this brand, but he also underlines that the help of Instagram does not equate to a discount on work, on the contrary... if you want to ride the influencer wave you must understand right away that this requires constantly proposing new innovations, submitting new projects and new ideas almost on a weekly basis, in short: success requires a huge effort.
Palm Angels has managed to find a perfect balance between online activity and social media, so much so that today it is the most searched for Italian brand online and also the most appreciated by many American rappers, from A$AP to Travis Scott.
The Winning Cards
Behind the undeniable talent of the creator of the brand, there are many other aspects that have contributed to the success of Palm Angels, first of all the quality of the materials used to make the garments. In fact, a true trademark of Italian fashion and what at the same time makes it appreciated all over the world, is the excellent workmanship of everything that is produced.
The fabrics, in addition to being of quality and eco-sustainable, have evolved with the brand, up to the production of garments in cutting-edge materials to support the physical recovery of athletes or to accompany the physical efforts of singers during long and exhausting tours.
This spirit of initiative has also meant that Palm Angels has earned important collaborations with luxury brands that have further increased its fame: from Gucci to Louis Vuitton, there are many high fashion houses that have seen potential in this completely Italian company, which can only make us proud of the excellent minds that are born in the Bel Paese.
