Continuous Tension Towards The Perfection of Made in Italy
Our World
"The most beautiful shirt will be the next one" Paraphrasing Enzo Ferrari’s famous quote about cars, Alessandro Gherardi describes his ongoing search for perfection, a constant over 45 years dedicated to a staple of men’s fashion.
Alessandro Gherardi fell in love with shirts at the beginning of the 1970s when, fresh from his studies, he embarked on his lifelong journey with a job in the small town where he was born - Pieve Santo Stefano, near Arezzo in Tuscany.
Yesterday
"I’ ve always created and designed shirts". An endless love. An unequaled passion. "The shirts were part of me. I worked for 20 years at tiber shirt factory, following time and motion. There I got to know the production mechanisms and the minimal nuances to create the most beautiful and precious shirts. But above all I understood the indispensable value of people and the importance of privileging humanistic perspective.
Hence the company's commitment to being not only a center of economic development, but also cultural and social.
To this end, Gherardi S.r.l. decided to emphasize these aspects, marrying the principles of the SA 8000 standard which is an internationally recognized organizational and management model, whose principles of ethics and social responsibility guide the company's policies and behavior.
Today
"Protagonist on the shelves of the most prestigious boutiques in the world". It was never a given that Alessandro Gherardi would manage to design a polo shirt in such a short period of time that would set the standard for men’s shirtmaking.
He produced garments for the top menswear brands and gave momentum to his brand, thanks to the high technology, craftsmanship and italian production that makes its shirts unique.
It was a victory won thanks to a perfect balance between artisan tradition and innovation.
Today, hand stitching represents one of the company’s unique assets, with the key stages in each shirt’s manufacture – buttonholes, button application and fell stitching – all carried out by hand.
At the same time, Alessandro Gherardi has invested in cutting-edge tools, all with the unmistakable quality seal of 100 % italian production.
Tomorrow
“Creating the foundations to face the challenges of the future.” Like his illustrious compatriot Michelangelo, who always liked to say “I’m still learning”.
Alessandro Gherardi continues to explore and put his trust in the future in his search for “the most beautiful shirt”. Today he is joined by his children Claudia and Paolo, his brother Adriano and his niece and nephew Andrea and Anna Lisa.
“Because the crucial thing is building a future for the company”, Alessandro explains.
Products
"Wearing an alessandro gherardi shirt is a pleasure." It is like a second skin, caressing the body without restricting it thanks to the anatomical design of the sleeves. The exclusive tailoring, like collar folding, makes simpler every small everyday gestures.
Blu
The value of these creations is immediately apparent, even at a glance. The continuous search for new fabrics, washes and exclusive prints has won over consumers all over the world.
When you can’t do without looking formal, or you don’t want to be without the label of that perfectly classic shirt, the blu line, dress and washed, is a shirt built in compliance with the classic canons of true tailoring without renouncing the fervid contemporaneity that distinguishes it.
Rossa
The “firstborn” of the family, the now historic Alessandro Gherardi rossa line with its five steps carried out by hand, is designed to satisfy discerning clients who appreciate fine tailoring without forced affectation.
Luxury
The Alessandro Gherardi world is translated into various ranges with different perspectives, but united by a common thread: a heritage of fine tailoring, creative flair and the high quality of the raw materials. Nine hand-sewn steps, exquisite accessories and fine fabrics make the luxury line one of a kind.
The History
The Alessandro Gherardi tailor's shop was born towards the end of the seventies in Pieve Santo Stefano, a Tuscan town in the province of Arezzo. Founded by Alessandro, today the company is also managed by his children Claudia and Paolo. Since 1970 the tailoring activity has undergone a strong increase: the company now has two hundred employees.
The place where the tailor's shop is located, on the borders of Umbria, Romagna and Marche, is ideal for an activity of this type that aims to preserve tradition. Gherardi's shirts are handmade one by one, the brand is distributed in several countries: Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Japan, England, Greece, Holland. Each item of Gherardi tailoring comes from a careful research of fabrics, shapes and details, without ever giving up the classic style and tradition.
Our Commitment
The target clientele of the brand created by Alessandro Gherardi is a man who is particularly attentive to the quality of what he wears, who loves to buy trendy garments but at the same time with an exclusive fabric and cut. The fabrics are selected among the best producers both Italian and English, in order to make shirts tailored to every need. The customer who turns to the store Alessandro Gherardi can choose the shape and fabric of the shirt he wants to wear: the result is a unique item 100 % made in Italy.
The shirt shop Gherardi with its original creations participates every year at Pitti Uomo, great fashion show dedicated to men's clothing. The quality of the product Gherardi is highly appreciated, for those who understand the Gherardi shirts represent examples of a shirt-making tradition that is now disappearing.
Combining tradition and innovation, Alessandro Gherardi creates high quality shirts with cutting edge technology. Based in Pieve Santo Stefano, the company's passion for tradition and attention to detail is what gives life to elegant and discreet bespoke pieces. The designer is constantly searching for the perfect shirt, quoting Michelangelo, "I'm still learning." However, it is this constant search for perfection that makes the process the best it can be.
