Our Story

Our journey began over 28 years ago with the creation of our first tequila and ceramic decanter. Since then, inspired by the warmth and vitality of the land we call home, we have strived to innovate in the vast world of its traditions. Today, our brand proudly reveals Mexico's rich legacy through exquisite creations, amazing experiences, unique destinations, and more.

The Dream

Over 28 years ago, we had a dream: to share the magic of Mexican culture with the world. Our culture, our traditions, and our land inspired us on this journey.

The First Decanter

Our iconic decanter marked the beginning of our dream — a unique creation in the world crafted by Mexican artisans. Our name emerged from our inherent nature. Clase Azul — blue like the agave from which our spirits are made and like the paint of our first Reposado decanter.

Our story was not without storms. Various threats, such as natural disasters and financial crises, made us question our future existence. We weathered the adversities by believing in our dream and staying true to our ideals.

To make the crafting of our exquisite creations possible, we founded Tradición Mazahua in 2007—a ceramic workshop where Clase Azul artisans dedicate themselves to creating our decanters, tributes to Mexican culture.

How Clase Azul is Created

Our Spirits - Our Most Exquisite Traditions

Mexico is a land of countless, rich, and diverse landscapes. To the west, amidst valleys and mountains, lies a region of vital importance to us: Jalisco. Here, the blue agave has been honored for centuries; a plant whose exquisite distillate bears witness to centuries of Jaliscan culture and traditions. Tequila is one of our most cherished treasures. The generosity of our culture inspires us to share it with the world.

A Transformation Over The Years

Our agaves grow in Los Altos de Jalisco, a region of reddish soil where elevation, minerals, and climatic conditions provide the agave with unique properties. To obtain tequila, the agave undergoes a long transformation: During the jima, the leaves of the plant are removed to reveal the heart, known as the piña. The piñas are cooked in masonry ovens and then crushed to extract the sugars resulting from the cooking process. Fermentation with our patented yeast infuses the elixir with our distinctive profile, while its notes are shaped through double distillation in copper pot stills. This dedicated effort results in an exquisite tequila.

Time is The Artisan

After distillation, Clase Azul Tequila Plata is born, a bright unaged tequila that faithfully captures the notes of the agave. For our other tequilas, however, the journey is not yet complete. Time is essential in creating tequilas with more complex profiles. To create them, our unaged tequila must mature in oak barrels and other woods, studying and appreciating its evolution over months and years. From the distinguished Clase Azul Tequila Reposado to the extra-aged Clase Azul Tequila Ultra, we firmly believe that each drop of tequila expresses something unique about the richness and character that only time can impart.

Mexico’s Best-Kept Secrets

Nine regions across the vast Mexican territory zealously guard a rich and ancestral tradition: the production of mezcal. Unlike tequila, distilled exclusively from blue agave, the various types of mezcal come from several species of agave, each reflecting the qualities of the soil and conditions that nourish and witness its growth. Our mezcals, crafted artisanally in the states of Durango and Guerrero, capture the natural and cultural essence of these regions and transport you to them to reveal their best-kept secrets.

Our artisans transform the diverse cultural expressions of our country into objects of great significance, a creative process that demands artistic drive, great technical skill, and mastery of generational knowledge.

Exquisite Stories

Each of our decanters speaks of our Exquisite Mexico. The decanters of our tequilas tell their stories through decoration. Our artisans apply paint with great skill on the surface of the ceramic to create the beautiful brushed patterns that characterize our icons.

The decanters of our mezcals, on the other hand, boast stoppers decorated with precious artisanal techniques with a long tradition in our country.
