The Purest Expression of Japanese Eyewear Art

Artigianalità

250 Steps, 71 Hours and 13 Craftsmen

Each of our designs is handcrafted in the renowned eyewear workshops in Sabae, Japan—a process that can take up to two years and involve up to 250 steps to bring it to life. This is an art born of 50 years of experimentation and creative exploration: each frame reflects a unique journey, from concept to construction. We never stop seeking new, innovative techniques to express our ideas.

Metal

Metal Masters

Using the world's finest metals—titanium, stainless steel, sterling silver, and solid 18k gold—our Japanese master craftsmen transform raw materials into intricately detailed works of art, employing techniques few others would dare attempt: prioritizing quality over mass production.

Acetate

Acetate Sculptors

Our Japanese acetate frames are sculpted exclusively from an organic plastic derived from cotton and cured for over three months before construction. This lengthy process produces unique, rich colors, with unparalleled strength and durability. Each piece is then hand-finished by master polishers who have spent 10 years apprenticing to perfect their technique, achieving an extraordinarily smooth feel, sculpted to last a lifetime.

Construction

Eyewear Architects

Every hinge, temple, and component used in our eyewear is carefully considered and uniquely designed for each collection. From our iconic side shields to our innovative pince-nez bridges, our designs are an unmistakable tribute to our heritage, redefined for the future.

Lenses

Clear Vision

Our CR-39 lenses are lighter and more impact-resistant than glass and filter out 100% of harmful UVA and UVB light. Each lens is treated with seven layers of anti-reflective coating, reducing eye strain by eliminating unwanted reflections. For even greater clarity, our polarized lenses eliminate distracting glare and enhance contrast.

Process

Finishing Touches

Once each pair of glasses has been hand-assembled and carefully inspected for imperfections, they are adjusted and aligned to meet our highest quality standards. This rigorous process reflects 50 years of craftsmanship in creating products designed to express your personality.

Exclusivity

Matsuda glasses are available only in select optical stores and high-end boutiques worldwide.
